Sigowet

Sigowet is a small village in Kenya that is about a 4 hour drive away from the country's capital, Nairobi.
The village has about 500 families living in it, each family generally has 7-10 members living together. The village has a small school, but none of the women or children go to school. Gathering water is viewed as the women and girls' job, because of this it takes away a life time of opportunities for them.
The lack of clean water not only takes away opportunities for some, but it has claimed many lives even within the small town of Sigowet. People die of many diseases such as Typhoid and Cholera which are carried in the dirty river water.

We plan to find a way to give Sigowet the clean water the people need there, so many of the women who walk the long distances for water will have a chance for education and other opportunities.
